The Robbie and Bert show.

"Yeah, you heard me right, 2011. I know it's only 1994 right now. Yes, I want tickets to Cooperstown and a hotel reservation. 2011. Yes, I'm sure."

Nothing says exciting like a little rainbow foil. Thanks TSC! Great action shot though.

Random cards. Lyman Bostock x 2.

I can only imagine how proud the father was when the son did what he wasn't allowed to, and played in the major leagues. And I'm sure he'd have traded it all back just to have his son around for more than 28 years.

Random cards. Bert Blyleven.

I really only ever saw Bert pitch on TV during the 1987 playoffs and World Series. By then he'd had his best days, but he still had enough to help the Twins get that magical first title.
Their rotation was what you'd call thin. Frank Viola of course was great, Blyleven did his thing, and then it was Les Straker. A bullpen anchored by Jeff Reardon, and including Juan Berenguer and Dan Schatzeder.  Not much to go on, but fortunately the Twins could hit and scored enough runs to get it done. Truly one of the more unlikely World Series Champions.

Bert join Kirby in the HOF this year, and who could deny him that place after seeing that big smile?

Where have you gone, Kirby Puckett?

If only Kirby Puckett could be remembered solely for his on field exploits.

I really think that having baseball taken away from him must have been the cruelest thing possible for someone who so seemed to love playing the game. And I wonder how much that might have changed his personality and led to his problems.

I love this card, it's truly one of my favorite baseball cards of all time.
