I'm sick and tired of reading how players who did steroids or other performance enhancing drugs should never be voted into the hall of fame.
For one thing, the key here is performance ENHANCING. They wanted to get better. And no one can argue that Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa's chase to beat the Roger Maris record didn't enhance major league baseball, especially so soon after the lost season of 1994.
And don't for a second think that all the players that popped amphetamines back in the day weren't enhancing their performance. Yet there was no attempt to keep them out.
And here's another thing. Any hall of fame that includes racist scumbags like Ty Cobb and Enos Slaughter really can't close their doors to anyone.
