Random cards. Carlton Fisk and George Bell

 The noble warrior.

This was a 40+ year old man. My groin hurts just looking at it.

"Yeah, another game without dying of old age!"

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

  1. I never noticed that about Bell's card before. Nice! The 1990 Upper Deck was the first autographed Fisk card in my collection.

  2. It's always fun to throw a Bell card into the mix. He was a wild card after all. And one of the rare birds that played for the Sox and the Cubs!

  3. Bell was pretty much a bust for the White Sox, but he was always entertaining. Even rarer than playing for both the Sox and Cubs, Bell was involved in a Sox/Cubs trade!

  4. Yeah, and the Cubbies sure won that one. Only Sammy Sosa. Sheesh, who was the Sox GM at that time?

I'll never forget opening day 1988. All during spring training there's the huge controversy between Bell and Jimy Williams. Williams wants Bell to DH, Bell wants to play LF. Bell DH's opening day, and hits 3 dingers off of Bret Saberhagen.

Sil Campusano solved the problem by being completely unable to hit, so soon enough Bell was back in LF.
